We Take Responsibility.

accountability be better clean up feelings pain responsibility triggered Jan 06, 2022

Wow! I felt rage today. It was not pretty. And to top it off, I unleashed it onto someone I love.

Since the explosion, I've been trying to figure out WHY I felt so angry.

I haven't put all the pieces together yet, but what I do know is my anger had nothing to do with the topic.

You see, whenever we get triggered, the real issue is never about the topic at hand. The pain point is something much deeper that has never been healed. So we can go through life getting triggered by different topics and people, and at the same time, they can all lead back to one painful wound.

When we have an outburst, we want to blame the other person, and most of the time, we do blame them. But if we're the type of people who take responsibility for everything that shows up, then that means we take responsibility for our outbursts too. No matter how justified we feel. We take responsibility.

For one, we understand NO ONE can MAKE us feel a certain way. And two, we know we are co-creators in the triggered event. That it's always a two-way street, and our job is to keep our side of it as clean as possible. Otherwise, we will always be a victim of our circumstances. And people like us would rather live in our power than by happenstance.

So it looks like I have some healing work to do and an apology on my end to help clean things up.

Yep, that already feels better.

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
