Who's going to save you?

30-day 30-day challenge accountability begin blog blog post challenge accepted choose yourself commitment confidence consistency every day follow-through habit pledge procrastination self-worth seth godin start start now struggle unconscious Feb 24, 2021

I just got happy when I pressed the blue button in the top right-hand corner of my screen: + NEW BLOG POST.

It's funny how I opened the same screen earlier in the day, but noooooothing came out. I just starred at the blank screen, then went to my phone and checked Instagram to occupy my time. AAaaaaaahhhh relief.

In case you don't know, I started this 30-day challenge to write a blog post every day because the legendary Seth Godin inspired me. He's written a blog post EVERY DAY for over 15 years! I am enamored by the thought of showing up with that level of consistency.

You see, I have struggled my whole life with 1. starting things and 2. follow through, which means I have been an incredible procrastinator.

It also means I have unconsciously become great at waiting to be saved. Over the past 2 years, I realized my procrastination is directly tied to my childhood. The tendency with my loving parents would be to rescue me at the very last minute. One time, my parents stayed up all night to help me with my big science project that was due the next day.

Looking back, I know they completely did it out of love, wanting me to succeed and have good grades in school. However, it had unconscious effects on me and how I live my life as an adult.

What I've shared is not to place any blame on their great intentions. Trust me, I know how lucky I am to have such loving, supportive, and caring parents.

I AM saying our confidence and self-worth are the foundation of what we want to create and output into the world. And the minute we can recognize what our deep-seated mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual blocks are, is the minute we have the opportunity to change.

Although it takes practice to break old habits, at least I'm shedding my tendencies that no longer serve me.

And THAT'S why my commitment to this 30-day challenge is so important to me personally.

I get to prove to myself, no one is going to save me but myself.

With lots of LOVE,

Teresa
