Roots run deep.

There's nothing like FAMILY.

Today I got to see my Abuelita, uncles, and my aunt. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but It's the first time I've seen them in person since before the lockdowns.

We laughed, hugged, reminisced, played cards, and ATE so much good food!

We're all getting older, life is changing, and yet we're all somehow the same when we get together.

I feel blessed to say I'm one of the lucky ones.

We're not without dysfunction at times, but we ALWAYS make it through and come back together.

The hierarchy and respect are instilled in all of us as a family tradition. And I get the best parts since I'm the "visitor" who only comes home once or twice a year.

I get to relive all the fun memories of my childhood while I take in the moments of the present. The feeling of being a child as an adult is filled with nostalgia and curiosity while staying fully present.

There's this surface level of topics, but each of us tells the truth when needed. The ease of laughter, nothing too serious, and LOVE in the room are intangible.

What a mix of layers.

I share this tonight because I'm reminded of the complex importance of FAMILY.

It's like going back to the roots.

And I treasure it all.
