Risk vs. Reward

action desire dreams ego fear go big move forward pain playing small winning worthy Jul 14, 2022

Recently I've been going into the trenches to uncover what keeps us playing small and how to get out.

Whenever we're hiding, waiting, wishing, wanting, or hoping, we're playing it safe. Thanks to our ego, we feel protected from Life coming at us. And at the same time, we keep praying for "something" to grant us our dreams. So which is it?

Do we want to experience our dreams or not?

If you're reading this, I believe you do.

So what's stopping you? What's getting in the way?

There are layers to this, and it's mixed with fear of rejection (I can relate), not trusting yourself, overcoming past pain, doubt, and worthiness. So instead of going full force towards our dreams, we end up dabbling. You know what I mean. We do a little here. We do a little there. But we never give it our full attention. That would be too costly.

Trust me on this. I play the same game.

Aren't you tired of hiding, waiting, wishing, wanting, and hoping? I know I am.

So here's the magnificent opportunity for us to dig ourselves out of the ditch: Risk vs. Reward.

When we listen to our ego tell us things like, "I'll do it tomorrow. I don't feel motivated. I'm tired. I don't know how. I ran out of time." What we're really doing is telling ourselves, "I don't want to risk the pain." We're so focused on all the reasons why we "can't" move forward. And instead, we need to look at all possible rewards for taking action toward our desires.

In a sense, we have an unbalanced Risk vs. Reward ratio—Fear 10 vs. Dream 1.

We need to tip the scale by getting in touch with the gratification we'll feel once we take that first step. Re-Membering that it takes a million baby steps to create what others call a giant leap.

The truth is, you'll never get the reward if you're never willing to take the risk.
