Permission

art center create creative process creativity express fun give permission social media talents validation yes Aug 11, 2022

If you read yesterday's post "Send It," I went a bit more in-depth about permission on my IG Live today.

And I think this subject is worth harping on some more. Lol.

What does it mean to give ourselves permission to create and share our voices?

  1. For us to begin the creative process, we must say, "YES!" to our hearts and art.
  2. We must be willing to be uncomfortable with not knowing how it's going to turn out or how it's going to be received.
  3. Once we've started, we must continue to keep saying, "YES!" to the finish line.
  4. We must get into the habit of creating for the sake of purely creating. To put external "reward or punishment" pressure on our voice is a sure-fire way to kill our visions.
  5. We must be willing to be rejected and not liked. Our creative endeavors are NOT for everyone. Allow the frequency of your talents to magnetize the right people who get you. And then let that be enough.

Social media declaring some whimsical "likes & dislikes" makes us think that if the masses don't get it, then maybe our art isn't good enough, which spirals into we're not good enough. We take it so personally. This is understandable because when we put ourselves out there, what we're really asking is for others to validate us.

Again if we can get back to the Center and create whatever we feel called to do for the pure sake of creating, then Life seems to open in beautiful and unexpected ways.

Our only "job" is to make art and share it. That's it. Oh! And have fun while we're at it!

That's it. Say "YES!" to yourself! You'll be glad you did.

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
