Victory!
Sep 14, 2021
Today was a great day. I faced the fear of being denied in public. And to be honest, I don't always feel this courageous. There are days when I want to go somewhere, and I just don't want to face the possibility of being rejected.
BUT TODAY! Today was fantastic!
It started with going to the vet appointment for one of my fur babies for a check-up. The interesting thing is they didn't ask me to wear a mask as soon as I walked in free faced. I have been there a few times, and they always ask me to put one on, but not TODAY!
I usually wait outside since I don't want to agitate the people taking care of my baby. But NOT TODAY!
They took me to a private room to wait for the vet to do the check-up. Everyone who entered the room treated me as a normal person. They looked at me directly in the eyes. They were relaxed, caring for my fur baby, and were very professional. It was truly an amazing experience.
I kept thinking about what happened that they didn't even ask me to wear a mask. Did someone else say something? Or do they know as a business they would have been violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964?
Well, whatever it was, I am super GRATEFUL! So to be treated with respect despite my apparent perspective was refreshing, to say the least.
Then I went to vote in the Cali recall election to drop off my ballot at a physical location.
I get there, and I walk up free faced to the entrance. There is a clear sign right before the front door, "YOU MAY NOT ENTER WITHOUT WEARING A MASK." I completely ignore it and walk right in. I let the lady at the front that I was dropping off my ballot, and she pointed me to the area for the dropoff. I ask the guy if I need to show ID, and he tells me, "No." I wait there till I see him put my ballot into the sealed box, and I walk out.
It truly felt amazing to exercise my voting rights as a FREE PERSON!
I will remember this day as a victory.
One day, years, or decades from now, I will look back at this historic moment in time and be able to say I faced my fears when they really counted.
And no one can take that away.
If you can get anything out of this post today, it's this:
Follow what's right for YOU through a courageous, empowered, and faithful heart!
WE GOT THIS!!!
With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
