Did you know that Galileo Galilei was a conspiracy theorist in his time?

Galileo is considered the Father of Modern Science. Well, at least he is now. But unfortunately, he was not welcomed with open arms in his day.

In the 17th Century, Galilei contributed to many areas of science, one of them being astronomy, where he improved the telescope. These improvements allowed him to observe the moon is not smooth, Jupiter has multiple moons, and Venus goes through phases.

He also supported Nicholas Copernicus's heliocentric theory that the planets revolve around the Sun.

But there was only one problem, the Catholic Church did not believe Galileo's scientific findings. Instead, the Church believed in Aristotle's previous geocentric findings that the planets revolved around the Earth.

With these two conflicting scientific discoveries, the Church was not very accepting of the newer and more accurate revelations.

In fact, the Roman Church was so threatened by Galileo's scientific argument they held an inquisition where he was forced to recant his findings. He was then found guilty of heresy and sentenced to house arrest for the rest of his life.

Now centuries later, we can all clearly say Galileo and Copernicus were right all along. But again, that was not always the case. After Galileo's inquisition in 1633, the Roman Catholic Church officially accepted heliocentrism around 1744. Over a hundred years later, both Copernicus and Galileo were vindicated.

Not sure if you picked up what I am throwing down?

Maybe, just maybe, there's truth to some conspiracy theories?
