The NEW Friendship Status.

beliefs change differences freinds friendship labels let go letting go relationships shift Jun 24, 2021

It's okay to let go of people. However, there's a difference between two friends who are busy doing their own thing and coming together like no time has passed and then realizing maybe it's time to move on.

This past year has somehow highlighted everyone's differences. And it seems before C19, we were all collectively moving in the same direction. If you are a good person and they are a good person with similar interests, and then add in your collective memories into the pot, that was the mixture for a good friendship.

But now, that combination is no longer enough to continue moving forward together.

There's a NEW criteria for friendships to exist. Because now there are solid and forceful lines in the sand that are unique to each individual person.

These self-drawn lines are the current parameters for friendships and relationships to maintain.

What's interesting is these personal beliefs might have always been there, but now we're all carrying them like badges of honor.

I'm a Vegan badge. I'm a Liberal badge. I'm a Humanitarian badge. I support the Climate Change badge. I'm an Ally Badge. I'm a Pro-Choice badge. I'm an Anti-Mask badge. I support the Free Speech badge...

Based on the highly touted labels, we start determining who we get along with moving forward.

But the truth is, each of us was already these things, but now we're being asked to notice the divide in beliefs. And we're all falling for it.

The "thing" that use to keep us aligned is no longer reason enough.

As we begin to recognize the shifts in relationships, it's okay to let go of what was. Yes, we will always have our shared memories, but now we're being called to make NEW ones, possibly with NEW people. And that's okay.

It's okay. Everything is fine. Trust.

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
