Take A Break.

addiction break breathe connection pause relationships social media society space Oct 04, 2021

I'm at a loss for words today. Nothing crazy happened except that Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp went down today. And on the same day, a Facebook whistleblower came out. So again, nothing crazy.

I wonder how many people freaked out? I wonder what Facebook is trying to hide?

It made me think of how life used to be so simple. We used to be free from social media distraction and addiction. And we used to get our information from only a few sources: the TV/ News, Newspaper, Radio, or Books. Now we're inundated with a barrage of noise, all vying for our attention.

Part of me feels I could completely walk away from my drug of choice, Instagram. Every time I think I need to find something on there, I end up losing over an hour of my life. And it happens in the blink of an eye. I look up at time has disappeared. Poof. Gone.

Yeah, maybe that's what I'll do. I'm going to take a break. I realize that I don't like letting this "thing" control me. I've tried putting up boundaries, but it didn't have the effect I was hoping for.

Hmmmmm... Yeah, I'm going to take a break.

It will be an interesting experiment. I'll get to see how tempted I am to "connect" or to check in and how long I can go without it.

I'll keep you posted. Wish me luck.

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
