Seeing Innocence.

Today I had the wonderful fortune of hanging with my friend and her 16-month-old baby boy.

He was having a blast!

He played with toys, explored the bench, practiced eating with a spoon, dropped most of the food on the floor, and used a toy screwdriver to "unlock" the gate to the playpen.

As I watched my friend lovingly cater and care for her son, I thought of how much this innocent little boy is loved.

He's free to be exactly as he chooses to be and is completely loved by all who see him.

As adults, why do we stop looking at each other with the same love and allow one another to be exactly as they choose?

Why do we stop seeing the innocence and start judging each other so harshly?

When did that start?

Children are literal magical beings. And yet, as we get older, we either forget our magicalness, or it is squeezed out of our memory.

How can we see it in others if we have forgotten our own? At some point, we stopped believing in ease, fun, love, freedom, play, laughter, exploring, and not caring what anyone thinks.

Now, as adults, we must conform and be careful what we say, do, and watch how we act or we will be disqualified from society.

But if you saw this beautiful unaffected little boy, you would instantly smile, laugh, and light up.

The difference is we're all carrying around pain, trauma, guilt, and emotional voids that get in the way of seeing the innocence in one another.

If only we could bypass our own sh!t so we could rediscover the pure goodness in each of us.

And that is the inner personal work we must do to make this world a better place.

Yes, there is a war in eastern Europe, but do you know how we can help?

By admitting we are magical beings and always have been since the day we were born. This allows us to see the goodness in others, which leads to cleaning up all the mini-wars and personal battles in our own backyard.

That's the noblest thing we can do as humans. See the Innocence.

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
