Those lyrics popped into my mind right at the beginning of my meditation session. I quickly knew I was talking to my ego.

The ego is insane.

It has a great desire to be "right" over everything and everyone while it silently steals our attention from our Greatness.

There was a time in my life when I spent a $#!+ ton of time concerned with someone else's life choices. I talked about them behind their back, thinking about how I would confront them on their shortcomings, and spent time talking to them to explain my perspective on how they are wrong.

When I look at that moment, I clearly wasted precious creative time that could have been spent on something more meaningful. I thought if I could get my friend to change their ways, then I would start creating. 

I was so wrong! I literally spent months arguing with them and dedicating my head-space to correct them.

At the time, I didn't know it was my ego talking. It was so desperate to win I had to rectify my friend's mistakes at all costs.

Sure enough, we are no longer friends. I mean, how can a friendship survive that level of pressure?

Answer: It can't.

Anyway, the time has passed, and I find myself shifting my focus on new people or issues to "correct."

And then I received that message to my ego today.

Move bitch! Get out the way!

I'm tired of you stealing my sanity, peace, and creativity. No mas. Ego, you are no longer needed to distract me from my mission and dreams. Enough is enough.

Thank you for coming and showing me how I don't want to live. I know you're only trying to protect me, but I no longer need your services. So here are your walking papers. Me and my Spirit will take from here. And if I ever need your help, I'll let you know. Otherwise, it's time you took a long break.
