Have Patience, Padawan.

Yesterday I felt like I wrote my best blog post yet. And today, as I sit here, I thought, "Uh oh. Now what?!"

Exactly.

I am running blank. Lol.

I feel this weird pressure that the rest of my posts ALL have to be just as good or better than yesterday.

Even as I write this, I'm second-guessing everything.

It's actually quite funny. I keep shaking my head and going, "What does any of this simplton and basic writing have to do with the people who do read this?"

I don't know if I'm writing for myself or you.

What a mind-f^¢K¡

Getting stuck creatively is the part about dance I didn't like. When choreography didn't flow or transition smoothly, it irritated me to no end.

So I guess the next best thing is to stop fighting the resistance and the feelings of inadequacy.

So I'll just come out and say how I really feel at this moment:

It's okay not to be good. Let whatever wants to come out come out. Stop judging and expecting a life-changing masterpiece to be written right now. Besides, that wasn't the point of challenging yourself to write every day. I know you started out by establishing consistency and trust within yourself. Congratulations, you did it! Now I know what you're thinking, and you want to up the ante. You want to be a great writer. Not just write to for writing's sake. It's a noble cause to want to skill up. But be patient, padawan. Continue writing for writing's sake. Continue reading literature from the greats. Continue to show up and put in the time. You are still so new to this game. You are in the process of developing your voice and style. There is no need to rush the process to greatness because the discoveries along the way are just as golden as the aim.

Here are some secrets to success.

Have fun. Then remember to have MORE fun.

Enjoy the unfolding.

Let go of the need to impress or imprint on others. What you share will be taken through their lens, not yours.

When you're ready, begin to add emotion and feeling and see what happens with your writing. By the way, this is a new one for you.

Let go of the "greatness" outcome. Instead, aim for consistency and feelings.

Again keep doing what you're doing. Don't bother with where this is going. Just GO!

There it is. That is all for now.

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
