Today marks my One-Year Anniversary of writing this daily blog!!!

I said this in yesterday's post. I have no idea where all of this is going, but I know I'm in the right place at the right time.

I've learned so much about myself and continue to do so every time I show up to write.

I learned about commitment, consistency, and trusting in myself through a new tool of expression. The whole year process has only helped me build up.

And that's just the surface stuff to this writing challenge that is self-inflicted.

Now, if you have a goal that takes time to achieve, I want to share with you what I've learned to get to the finish line.

  1. The first step to achieving the goal is DECLARING what the goal IS. Saying, "I want to be a writer," isn't a goal. It's a wish. I publicly declared I would write every day for the next 30 days.
  2. Next, you must put yourself and your action plan on the line, whether that's with a friend or a coach or saying it out loud to other people to help you stay accountable. Again, if you're starting out, you will need someone to help you stay on track.
  3. Once you declare your goal and have backup and support, make sure to get clear on the goal's time, place, and duration. The more specific you can be to show up for it, the more you will stick to your plan.
  4. Make sure to show up for the desired result when you say you're going to show up for it. Trust me. There will be days when you're NOT going to feel like doing it. Don't give in to the low vibration. Even if you show up for 5 minutes instead of an hour, this will help keep the momentum, and you'll be happy you did it afterward.
  5. Make the goal more about the journey and the discovery than attaining the actual destination. This will help you move through the unmotivated days as well. You'll start to see and accept there is an ebb and flow to your creative process. This lets you know some days will be better than others and let that be enough. Let showing up be the most important part of the journey.

These few guideposts are what I used to accomplish this marathon destination.

Now it's your turn to go for something you've wanted to do but haven't committed. The amount of joy and confidence you will have just by doing it is well worth the effort.

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
