Faucet of Creativity

creating creative block creative process dance flow infinite possibilities inspiration journey life new ideas resistance stuck unstuck writers block writing Jul 09, 2022

There is a blog called Advice to Writers that I've been following for a bit where they have a section of interviews with writers.

One question they are asked is if they ever have writer's block. Surprisingly each one answered, "No."

I was surprised to see writer after writer had the same response to that question. So they don't experience blocks?

And then, I started thinking about my own writing journey and realized inspiration always sweeps in and wins the day. So I guess you could say I haven't experienced it either.

Yes, there are days when it feels stuck. But eventually, I get to an idea that wants to be expressed.

The same goes for our lives.

We feel stuck or in a funk, adding to it by getting frustrated, which leads to a downwards spiral.

But what if we could recognize the stuckness and decide to leave the resistance alone instead of adding to it?

One way I found helpful when I choreograph is to walk away. The minute I feel like the flow is tightening, I take a break. I don't try to force a connection or for something to happen.

The other way that has worked for me in writing is to completely start over with a new idea. I hold onto all of the blips that came out as a backup. But eventually, I don't need them. Inspiration hits, and the faucet of creativity starts to flow. Aaaaahhhhh. Relief.

I also realize freestyling with movement and words is how I can show up every day and not feel like I'm going to run out of ideas. Besides, I know we are Infinite Beings with Infinite Intelligence. So how can we ever run out of something to create and share?

When it comes to getting stuck in life, the best remedy I've found is taking a nap. Talk about letting go of all of the resistance! And it's so simple. It's so simple people might not understand its power. Then when you wake up, just start over. Aaaaahhhhh. Relief.

You don't have to keep going down a path that isn't working or in flow. There's no need to force anything to happen. And, again, there are no shortages of new adventures because you are Infinite Possibilities.

Maybe you believe in "writer's block" in your life because you're unwilling to let go of the lane you're on. If it's not in the flow and feeling good as you create your life, go take a nap and choose a new path.

Yes, it can be that simple.

Here's to being in flow in all areas of our lives!

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
