Don't cheat yourself!

I saw an ad on Instagram for an AI app that writes blog posts for you.

I don't know about you, but that sounds like CHEATING to me. And whoever uses this AI-powered writing application is cheating 2 sides.

ONE: They're cheating themselves on learning, practicing, and playing at the skillset of writing. This one point is so odd to me. Where is the gratification of a job well done based on you're own merits?

They're giving up their own creative power, voice, perspective and simultaneously CLAIMING the creation as their own. I'm definitely being judgy on this one, but that's because I don't understand how someone is okay with this. So forgive my narrow-mindedness!

I can see I'm taking it a bit personally. Lol, Partly because I started writing this blog EVERY DAY for the past 3 months. I see it as a way to LEARN how to write and hopefully get better at it during the process. This blog also allows me to express myself in a new way. It's a communication tool. And that's what I did with dance. Dance was my vehicle to express my truest self. So why would I cheat myself of tapping into my Soul?

The only thing I can kind of understand is that some people just want the end result and don't know HOW to enjoy the process. But that's STILL cheating! lol

I take pride in my work, my offerings, my expression, my art. And maybe that means it will take me a bit longer than the person using AI to write their blog posts, but I'm good with that. I genuinely enjoy opening a blank page and letting it out. It's like a surprise gift I get to unwrap every single time.

And the best analogy I can give to having something or someone else write for you is chewing on ABC gum. Eww. All the flavor is gone, so what's the point?

PART TWO: They're cheating their audience.

If the goal of having AI write out the blogs is to get more content, because "Content is King," then good for them. But is that good for you or me?

Isn't the point of the content to "connect, share, and build trust?"

But if the AI is writing the content, then as the prospect or audience, "WHO" are we connecting with??? And doesn't it seem as if the trust is built on faulty grounds?

Don't let this be confused with knowing when we need outside help to move forward. But to "own" the art of something so personal as writing that we didn't do just seems defective.

I hope it's clear by now that this isn't relegated to just writing. I'm really talking about all things we create.

  • Don't you want the chance to succeed on your own talent?
  • Don't you want the experience of learning the skills yourself?
  • Isn't the experience worth MORE than the outcome???

Yes, it feels great to hit those high moments, but once they're over, what's left? Built up SKILLZZZZZZ.

And those talents NEVER go away. They just keep getting stronger. #pow

MORAL of the STORY: Don't cheat yourself the GIFT of building YOU up.

With lots of LOVE,
Teresa
