Clear It Out.

Do you feel attached to your stuff?

I know I do! It's something that has come up for me as part of my internal work. The reason is, the energetic feeling of every corner and closet filled with something is weighing me down.

Now there are layers to being attached to things. All the clutter that I can see and don't see is taking up physical AND mental space. We think it's no big deal because it's normal. Yet, I'm beginning to realize it all represents what's happening on the inside.

This week, I was asked to fill up two boxes of things as part of my homework.

And today, I did just that! 

I went to my bathroom and cleared out the cabinets. Then, finally, I was able to look at things I hadn't used in over two years. And to be honest, I still kept things I thought I might "need." But at least it's a start!

With the two boxes of toiletries, I will go drop them off with the homeless. And I'm going to grab blankets that are taking up space in my closet and hand out some of them as well.

Without realizing it, not only is the clearing out process helping me practice letting go, but it also feels good to give back unexpectedly.

So if you're like me and feel attached to your stuff, I will pass along the same homework assignment to you. So by the end of the week on Sunday, make sure to have at least two bags or boxes ready to pass along.
